If you own a restaurant, one item you cannot live without is cooking oil. But you can only use it so much. The good news is that there are yellow grease buyers who can take it off you. What used to be waste will be recycled into something useful. On the subject of oil, you know that it has many uses. But there are products that you may not know have oil in them. Here are some that feature this slick substance: Health and Beauty Oil has a big role in the realm of cosmetics and health. There are many products that have a type of it as the main ingredient. Here are some examples:

  • Soap – Making soap involves the use of different oils and ingredients. These will not mix together by themselves, so they need to be emulsified. Lye is used as the emulsifying agent that combines everything together.
  • Body oil – This is used for massaging purposes, helping the therapist’s hands move more smoothly over the body. Others types of body oil are used for their scents and skin moisturizing properties.
  • Creams and lotions – These are effective in delivering vitamins, moisturizers, and other nourishing ingredients to the skin. Some creams are also used for medicinal purposes. These treat fungal infections, burns, and other wounds.
  • Lipsticks and lip balms – Oil is combined with wax and coloring substances to make these cosmetic products. The oil serves as a moisturizing agent.
  • Fragrances – Whether it is used for aromatherapy or as a component in perfumes, oil is the main ingredient in providing fragrant scents.

Cars and oil are two things that are hard to separate from each other. There are many types of oils that you can associate automobiles with. You have brake fluids, lubricants, and other products that have oil as their main component. And the gasoline that you pump in your tank comes from crude oil.

That’s all common knowledge, but what’s interesting is biodiesel. Used vegetable oil will get a new lease in life with this. Mixing it with some additives can provide you with fuel for your diesel engine. It’s environmentally sound and a cost-effective solution.

 Art

There are masterpieces created using oil paint. Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, one of the world’s most iconic art pieces, is one of these. Another iconic item, this time of the decorative kind, is the lava lamp. This was invented by Edward Craven Walker in 1963. The lamp plays around with the densities of water and an oily substance. This is the resulting lava that is on a neverending cycle of rising and sinking.

Temperature plays a big part here. Water is inherently lighter than oil. When heated by the light bulb at the bottom, its molecules spread out. It will become lighter, which will send it rising to the top of the lamp. At the top, its temperature will decrease, which will send it back down again, close to the light bulb. And this all will repeat until the bulb is turned off.

There are many other types of oil that serve countless other purposes. It’s truly a slick substance, both in the literal and figurative sense.
