Champagne and sparkling wine are great for celebrations and parties. They immediately give this elegant and fun vibe, which is why hundreds of bottles of champagne and sparkling wine are sold each day all around the world.

There are hundreds of brands that create champagne and sparkling wines, but do you know how to serve it properly? Today, we will give you a couple of tips on how to serve your champagne and sparkling wine right, so if ever you receive prosecco gift sets in the UK, you would know how to serve them right.

Storing the Spirit

You should know how to properly store your champagne so when it is time to serve it, you can serve it the right way. Never expose your champagne or sparkling wine in extreme heat or cold, as this will affect the taste and texture of the spirit. Let it rest in a cool, dry place, and completely safe from direct sunlight.

Do not put it in the refrigerator as well, as the extreme cold will definitely kill the taste and the whole experience. Just make sure that it is stored in a dark and cool room, away from the harsh rays of the sun.

Hold the Cork Down with Your Thumb

You would not want to hurt anybody when opening and removing the cork, would you? Make sure to keep everyone safe, including you, when opening a bottle of sparkling wine, prosecco, or champagne. Place your thumb on top of the cork and do not remove it there until you have fully screwed it out of the bottle.

First, make sure to remove the foil from the bottle. Then, put your thumb over the cork and turn the handle of the cage to your right. Next, remove the cage, making sure to place your thumb on top of the cork again. Tilt the bottle to a 45° angle, then turn the whole bottle from its bottom while holding the cork tightly. Point the neck of the bottle away from your guests, yourself, and other breakable stuff.

Avoid Serving it too Cold

Never add ice to your champagne and sparkling wine, as this will ruin the taste. You should also avoid serving it too cold, as this will only mask the wine’s aroma and of course, its flavours as well. Do not fill the glasses to the brim and just serve the right amount, as sparkling wines and champagnes are made to be consumed right away.

Let it sit for a little while and once it has gone down to just the right temperature, you can serve it to your guests.

Use a Chardonnay or White Wine Glass

White wine glasses

Most champagne drinkers use a flute to serve their proseccos, but flutes are actually not the best type of glass to serve your champagne in. They prevent the rest of your wine to breathe, which is a must if you want to enjoy the aroma and flavour.

Try a Chardonnay or white wine glass instead, as this will help the spirit breathe, releasing its true scent and taste. Look around to make sure you will find the right size and shape for your needs.

If you want your guests to enjoy the wine thoroughly, then make sure to decant it before serving. The sediments will then be removed during this process, allowing the wine to be fully smooth and savoury.
